Difficult Situations & Social Justice

Library staff interested in social justice and social responsibility are invited to the second meeting of the Social Justice Roundtable on Friday, June 2, 10am-12pm, at the Hartford Public Library. Join your colleagues in sharing concerns, resources, and ideas, and engaging in coordinated efforts to better serve our communities through improved communication and understanding.

This meeting will focus on Difficult Situations & Social Justice. Libraries are welcoming spaces for everyone and that’s a great thing. But sometimes we run into problems in spite of our inclusivity. Don’t get caught off guard when dealing with difficult situations. We will role-play challenging library situations with a social justice focus. Learn the language and techniques to help diffuse a situation and reaffirm core library values.

Location & Parking - The meeting will be held in the YOUmedia Room (2nd Floor). There is a metered lot next to the library and metered parking in the street near the library. The meters usually take either cards or coins. There is no parking validation system. Carpooling or using public transit is recommended.

Registration - Please register using the link above. It takes just a few moments, and is very helpful to the chairs, host, and CLC staff.
