Local Authors

Join us at the Westport Library on Thursday, October 17 to discuss local authors and writers. We will explore ideas for highlighting and celebrating authors and writers in our communities. We’ll talk about local author collections, inclusion criteria, and acquisition guidelines. We’ll also explore some ways to engage our communities through writing. We hope attendees will share some of their projects and ideas.

The meeting will feature the following presentations:

  • Connecticut Center for the Book,  Lisa Comstock, Director

  • Connecticut Authors Trail, Chris Schulz, Founder (information to be presented by Christie Mitchell), Janet Carlson Calvert Library, Franklin, CT

We are also pleased to have short presentations highlighting projects by the following:

  • Lesley Lambton, Adult Program Coordinator, Ridgefield Library

  • Christy Billings, Program Coordinator, Reference Services and Adult Learning & Coordinator of “We Were There: Veteran’s Writing Group,” Russell Library

  • Tina Panik, Reference & Adult Services Manager & Farmers Market Manager/Local Author Festival Co-Founder, Avon Free Public Library

The Reference and Instruction Roundtable is open to anyone interested in adult reference and/or instruction at public, academic, or special libraries.
