Civic Engagement at Your Library

Amy Koester of Skokie Public Library joins us over Skype to share their successful intiative, The Civic Lab. The Civic Lab at Skokie Public Library offers information and thought-provoking activities to support dialogue and engagement on issues that affect the Skokie community. The Civic Lab strives to engage community members in conversation and exploration around basic civics, current events, and topics relevant to policy. To learn more about The Civic Lab, please visit


Amy Koester is the Learning Experiences Manager at Skokie Public Library. She is one of the creators of the Civic Lab at the library, a team which now includes 9 staff across several library departments. Amy serves on the board of directors of the Association for Library Service to Children and as an editor for In the Library with the Lead Pipe.
