When a first-time web client arrives at Miranda Creative, we provide them with an unopened box of 64 crayons (yes, the kind with the built-in sharpener) and a thick, never-touched newsprint sketchpad. Why would we provide such an odd set of tools to begin a dialog about a form of paperless marketing? Because at Miranda Creative we understand that relating the complex and unlimited options of a website to the familiar and unlimited options found in that bright yellow box, provides an immediate sense of comfort and control to our clients.

Comfort and control was also behind the unique website package we have developed for our friends at Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC). Working to build sites for a number of regional libraries the past few years gave us an opportunity to better understand the unique nature and needs of each member organization.

As a result of this real-time experience, we considered and ruled out a number of options, including universal web templates. These cookie-cutter sites, while cost effective, did not allow CLC members to maintain a unique web presence that reflected the charming personality of each library. What did remain on the table however, was the development of a planning system that helped libraries better organize their site goals and content, prior to beginning production. By moderating a planning session at the engagement of web production, Miranda Creative found that a more efficient design and development process followed, and therefore a cost-effective option to CLC members.

While the full scope of our program will be shared at the CLA Annual Conference taking place later in April, we are happy to provide this brief overview, and are prepared to address any questions in-person at our convention display.
