Description:
GREAT FUN - PLUS MUCH MORE!
Creative, Interactive, Entertaining Activities for All Ages

Our Monster Hunt program for 7 - 12 year olds is a clue decoding scavenger hunt that helps build library research skills. Participants become deputy detectives and use the library catalog and Dewey Decimal System to track down coded clues hidden in books throughout the aisles. The decoded instructions tell the brave adventurers how to find and contain the Monster.

Our unique MonsterMaker program combines storytelling with craft-making. Participants become part of the story when they are called upon to fashion the MONSTERS that the characters are confronted with using materials such as clay, wire, and styrofoam. The crafters then help to conquer these creatures by constructing the special tools required to defeat them.

All ages and levels of ability can take part in our interactive StoryPlay adventure because reading and writing skills are not required for participation. Children create their own roles and make up the lines for their characters. Our storyteller spins a madcap yarn and cues the performers to deliver their lines until the tale whirls to its ultimate conclusion.

In all our activities, the focus is on involvement, creativity, and fun, while also imparting a subtle lesson about facing our fears. The same is true of our book, "Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective" (ISBN 9780978951207), which has been endorsed by the Anxiety Disorder Association of America and the national anxiety advocacy group Freedom From Fear. Both organizations recognize this book for it's usefulness as a tool for helping inspire children to confront their anxieties.
