Intro to Mental Health First Aid Training

Rescheduled from October. Michelle Roberson, MSN, RN, CDP (Community Support Program Head Nurse, CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Western CT Mental Health Network) will be speaking about Mental Health First Aid Training, an 8 hour certification class given over 2 days. This training gives participants skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as CPR training helps a non-medical professional assist an individual following a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid training helps an individual who doesn't have clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Libraries can host training classes for the community, and/or have one or more library staff members become trained.

10:30-12:00

CLC Community Conversation
CLC Executive Director Jennifer Keohane will lead this group conversation, one of several that CLC is having with library staff across the state. This is your opportunity to share your aspirations for CLC and its members, the concerns you have, and what you believe might make a difference in strengthening CLC and Connecticut libraries. This is an important step in CLC’s strategic planning process - make sure your voice is heard! You will also have a chance to see ALA's "Libraries Transforming Communities" tools in action.

Registration: Please register using the link above - no sign-in required.

Parking: Parking is available in the library parking lot (Lot G), along the Green, and in Greenwoods Hall parking (Lot C).  There are no classes in session that day, so parking should not be an issue for attendees. Campus Map

Meeting Location:  We will meet in the Draper Conference Center, located on the lower level of the Learning Resource Center, which also houses the Library. Campus Map
