Mission, Vision & Values
Mission
The Connecticut Library Consortium is a statewide membership collaborative serving all types of Connecticut libraries by initiating and facilitating cost-effective services, creating and supporting educational and professional development, and helping libraries to strengthen their ability to serve their users.
Vision
The Connecticut Library Consortium will:
- Provide a forum for the sharing of information, ideas, and expertise.
- Facilitate and create partnerships among different types of libraries and statewide and community agencies who share the same goals.
- Identify trends and promote the effective use of technology in libraries.
- Support the continuing education of library staff through programming and training opportunities.
- Leverage the buying power of its member libraries to provide materials and services to libraries of all sizes in all regions of the state.
Values
The Connecticut Library Consortium values include:
- Respect for all libraries and librarians.
- Responsiveness to member needs.
- Equity of service across types and sizes of libraries.
- Equal access to information for Connecticut citizens.
- Commitment to the education of Connecticut's citizens through libraries.
Goals
GOAL # 1 - COOPERATIVE PURCHASING
CLC members have a wide variety of cooperative purchasing products to choose from, including but not limited to, books, media, supplies, equipment, programs and services. In addition, CLC members have access to a wide variety of databases provided at a discounted rate.
GOAL # 2 - CONTINUING EDUCATION
CLC members are offered a wide variety and number of training and networking opportunities through CLC.
GOAL # 3 - COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS/SPONSORSHIPS
CLC through its membership and via its website and listserv acts as an information resource for member libraries regarding grant opportunities. Additionally, CLC staff works with members to seek out, facilitate and provide support for collaborations with other library and non-profit community organizations.
GOAL # 4 - RESOURCE SHARING
CLC members are offered a variety of cooperative programs, including but not limited to, media exchanges, public programming offerings, and online resources and emerging technology initiatives.
GOAL # 5 - COMMUNICATIONS
CLC members have a state-of-the-art website that provides up-to-date information and communication about CLC programs and services as well as issues affecting libraries and librarianship. Additionally CLC communicates timely and relevant information to its members via CONNtext and the CLClist.
GOAL # 6 - CONNECTICUT LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
CLC staff provides managerial, website and administrative support to the Connecticut Library Association in a contractual arrangement that is financially and administratively beneficial to both organizations.

- Continuing education & roundtables
- Library Resource Online Catalog
- Grantseeking on behalf of member libraries
